Wix

Wix is pretty and has the coolest graphics!

Easy to use and update as your knowledge builds, you can grow your website along the way.

I consider Wix to be the iPhone of websites. It's based on apps that you manage within the site.

The mobile site can be a bit wonky if you don't know to adjust the layout from the desktop view.

There is a Wix app that you can even brand as your own company when you're ready.

WordPress

WordPress is perfect for someone on a mission to share their message!

This platform has the perfect foundation for a blog.

Since it is HTML based, it is a little trickier to navigate than Wix, but you can pretty much do anything you want to on WordPress.

Most companies have WordPress plugins that are managed regularly enough for you to trust them but always double-check the reviews before installing.

It's cheap to get started that first year. I recommend heading over to RetailMeNot.com to get a code for $12 months of hosting on GoDaddy.

Noteworthy - Wordpress.org and Wordpress.com are not the same thing. Be sure to do your research.
