Modifications
It's important to offer modifications to yoga practitioners who are inflexible, in order to be able to experience the full benefit of yoga practice.
BEND IT
In forward fold, bend from the hips with your back straight and flat. Or, place your hands on the seat of a chair.
In the Intense Side Stretch pose, place your hands on blocks, and don't take your head all the way down.
In Revolving Triangle Pose, place one hand on your ankle and rest the other hand on your hip.
MAKE IT SMALLER
In Downward Facing Dog, place your hands on the seat of a chair.
In the Seated Forward Fold, sit on a folded blanket and wrap a strap around your feet hold the strap in both hands.
In the Extended Triangle pose place one hand on a block and the other hand on our hip.
DO IT SLOWER
Be aware of what is before you, and be present in the flow of one moment to the next, remember to breathe.
DO SOMETHING ELSE
Encourage comments during the class, create an atmosphere of confidence and acceptance.
