Spirituality vs. Religion

A good example of spirituality in a Yoga Studio is the use of the word NAMASTE.

NAMASTE is used to say hello or goodbye. Bring two hands together on the heart center, close your eyes, and gently bow down. We bring the hands together on the heart center to invoke the divine love within us for the other.

Spiritual meaning of the word NAMASTE: thumbs are pointing up toward God, and all ten fingers are together; the ten fingers represent the diversity, as all fingers are different. Bringing the fingers together with the thumbs pointing up represents unity and diversity under God.

When is ok to include religion.

Teach about the sound OM - the unstuck melody, OM represents the finite and the infinite. All religions use sounds for affirmation.

What is the difference between religion and spirituality?

There are many religions, and each of them tends to claim that their way is the correct one. Where spirituality is inclusive it creates a sense of belonging. We all participate in the spiritual all the time.
