WHAT IS THE MAX TIME TO KEEP A STUDENT IN AN INVERSION

1 to 2 minutes for beginner practitioners

3 to 5 minutes for more experienced practitioners

WHAT POSTURE HELPS COUNTER BALANCE AN INVERSION

For example for the Shoulder Stand pose, because the neck muscles are contracted and the chest muscles are contracted the Fish pose releases the tension of the chest and neck.

For the Wheel pose, the counterbalance is the Knees to Chest pose.

For the Head Stand pose, the Rabbit pose ( we must be careful not to strain the neck).

IF A STUDENT HAS A REACTION TO AN INVERSION HOW DO YOU ASSIST

First of all, stop the pose, then ask the student how he or she is used to dealing with such experiences. Suggest a Child pose or suggest to sit in a Hero pose with one hand on the heart and the other on the floor to feel grounded.
